Updating web design

Well, it took a while but I finally figured out how to change everything on the web. Designing the header was easy, however trying to get it on the page so you could see was a chore. I think this will be our design for a while! I hope you like it.

I found out I'm moving rooms....... so I'm off to move all the furniture and "stuff" to my new room tomorrow. I had a plan on how to redesign my room.... now I'll need to rethink it. Wish me luck!

Weekly Assessments/Tests

Over the past 2 years I wrote weekly assessments for our first grade team. It was an adventure, with writing passages to specific reading levels, and putting questions together that would make 5 teachers happy. Well, it's done, and  I even had a couple of other schools try them. Barb even tried it in Florida, thanks Barb.

You can click on the "Freebie" link to download a test that we give the beginning of October.

1st Grade Weekly Assessment

If you like this, I have a year's worth of tests at TpT.

Click Below for TpT link

This packet includes a year's worth of 1st Grade Common Core assessments. The tests are given to the entire class and can be used with any reading series.

The standard based assessments integrate Language Arts, Reading, Science, and Social Studies within each exam. As the year progresses, the tests build upon each other and, by mid-year, all strands are woven into each test.

Each assessment contains a grading rubric that breaks down each
question by the skills incorporated. Many questions are graded in more than one standard area on the rubric.

The packet consists of:
• 4 pre-assessments;
• 14 assessments (total of 18 tests for the year);
• A sample grading page;
• A table showing which skills are tested on which assessment; and
• A table showing reading level, number of questions, and number of pages for each assessment .

After each testing week, you will have grades based on the standards and an overall test grade for the assessment. All assessments were evaluated over the past year in 7 different classrooms. They were shown to effectively break down each strand and allow you to drive your instruction with data.
Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions about the assessment prior to purchasing and suggestions you may have to improve the assessment.
I hope you will find these useful.

Thank you

Florida Language Arts Common Core Standards

If you have stopped by before we were under construction, but in our case it was in a rumble or utter chaos! Now that school is out and we have had more time to figure it out and we are now up and blogging and glad you are here!

Florida has changed its Language Arts Common Core Standards to Language Arts Florida Standard (with some changes) for the 2014-2015 school year. I have developed a comparison chart for K-3 and working on the Comparison chart for Math now.

Below is a snap shot of a page of the chart:

Click on the above snap shot to see complete paper

The math chart will look the same.
Thanks
Barb

Seasons

Today I am watching the grandkids run around the house. But, still having to work, I'm sharing the anchor chart I made for seasons.
